England Crowned TikTok Women’s Six Nation Champions and complete Grand Slam

England claimed their fourth straight Women’s Six Nation title and sealed the Grand Slam after victory over France in the crunch decider.

Ill-discipline and a poor set piece display cost France throughout the game with lost lineouts and missed kicks.

In a game that had it all, including five tries and two yellow cards it was The Red Roses came out on top after eighty minutes.

It was France who got off too the better start, establishing their kicking game which forced an early error from England fly half Zoe Harrison in her own in-goal area. From that resulting scrum France quick tapped the free- kick they were awarded, going through the phases before Romane Menager  went over for the try. The extras were added by Caroline Drouin

A 50/22 from Red Roses full back Helena Rowland put England into the French twenty-two for the first time in the game. This started England’s first half maul dominance over the French. It was prop Sarah Bern who profited at the back of the maul. Captain for the day Emily Scarratt added the extras.

With France’s penalty count on the rise and giving England easy entry into their 22, it would be Abbie Ward who would break away from the maul and cross for The Red Roses’ second and Scarratt slotted her second conversion. England scored their third try using their driving maul and Bern scored her second.

France had a spell of dominance ten minutes before the half but could not turn pressure into points. England went in the break 7-21 in front.

Just like the first half it was the French who started the quickest. But yet again they could not convert pressure into points even with the help of Harrison being shown a yellow card for a deliberate knock on. It would be Scarratt who would add three points to the score board after France centre Maelle Filopon was carded, for a deliberate knock on.

France had a number of opportunities to close the gap but a number of knocks on meant they were unable to break the English defence. With four minutes to go France were able to cross the line for consolation try. England were victorious 24-12.
