After the conclusion of the 2020/21 season that saw the Stags finish 16th in League Two, Nigel Clough and his staff will be looking to restructure the side ahead of a push up the table in the next campaign.

The amber and blues had a rollercoaster of a season and the managerial prowess of Clough saw the Nottinghamshire club survive in the fourth tier for another season.

Forwards Andy Cook and Nicky Maynard have not had their contracts extended at the club with the former having an option of an extension which the club did not take.

Ryan Sweeney is another player that has been at the club for quite a while making over 100 appearances for the Stags.

The former Stoke City man is set to look for a new challenge elsewhere as he ends up being released along with the aforementioned duo of Cook and Maynard, Joe Riley, Aidan Stone, Jake Wright and 21-year-old defender Aidan Walker.

Rollin Menayese and Aaron O’Driscoll, who were both out on loan to Grimsby Two and Longford Town respectively, will return to the club once their loan deals expire.

Defender Corey O’Keeffe and goalkeeper Marek Stech are both under contracts but have been placed on the transfer list as Clough looks to offload the pair.

Two youngsters, Jaden Charles and Keaton Ward will be negotiating their contracts in the next weeks as the Stags manager looks to keep the bright pair at the One Call Stadium.

The loans of Jamie Pardington, Stephen Quinn and Oli Sarkic have expired but Clough is wanting to bring both Pardington and Quinn back to the club. The goalkeeper would come back on a potential loan and the experienced midfielder will likely be a permanent signing for the amber and blues.
