Greg Inglis set to make his Warrington debut at the weekend vs Hull KR

It isn’t the easiest task to complete the game and win everything there is to be won but on his return to competitive Rugby League however, Greg Inglis is set to make his long awaited Warrington Wolves debut at the weekend against Hull Kingston Rovers.

Warrington announced the signing of the highly experienced player all the way back in May 2020, and with the knowledge of Inglis’ arrival, the Warrington faithful were getting very excited.

A few weeks of the season have gone by and until now, Wolves head coach Steve Price had kept his cards close to his chest when it came to addressing the elephant in the room which was when G.I.’s debut would be.

Now Price has confirmed the 34-year-olds arrival into the first team, let’s take a look at what the centre by trade has achieved in his career.

Over his career in the NRL, he has won an NRL premiership with the South Sydney Rabbithos in 2014, two with his time playing for the Melbourne Storm and he has also made it at representative level with Queensland for the State of Origin series’ and for Australia.

Warrington captured the signature of the acclaimed Rugby League genius in surprising circumstances but at the same time, it was a signing you would expect a club like Warrington to make. A club with a lot of money and one still on their search for that illusive first Grand Final win, an acquisition such as Inglis is well received.

It is yet to be seen what sort of impact he will have at the club on the field, but his presence off it is giving the club a positive lift. Wire hope the signing pays off and we see the trademark Inglis celebration come to fruition for the first time in nearly two years.

In his first game, the versatile back will be coming up against a Hull Kingston Rovers side who are coming off the back of two straight wins, so it’ll be a rude awakening if G.I. and his wire teammates aren’t to start off well. Coached by former Wolves man Tony Smith, he’ll know all about the team from Cheshire’s weaknesses.
