The 48-year-old is considered one of the most successful Romanian coaches in the United Arab Emirates.

Bani Yas earned a crucial victory against struggling Hatta after Nicolas Gimenez netted his eighth goal of the season to earn the hosts three valuable points.

Daniel Isaila’s side are in a rich vein of form and are currently on a 16-match unbeaten run.  With four games left, they lead at the top of the table by a point and have set a new record of 48 points amassed in a season, the most the club have ever been able to pick up.

The Romanian signed for Baniyas in 2020 and took over the Sky Blues who were ninth last season, 20 points from the top of the table, but due to the pandemic, the season ended on a close.

According to reports, the former assistant of the Romanian national team has extended his contract with the Blues for another two years.

Isalia began his coach coaching career in 2006 at FC Sacele before joining the technical staff of Razan Lucescu and becoming an assistant manager at FC Brasov.

He had numerous managerial spells with the Romanian side for four years but ended up leaving to join Sportul Studenesc who got relegated in his first season in charge.

The season after he received a contract to sign for FCM Targu Mures with the main objective of being promoted to the first division. However, he resigned in the middle of the season due to the team not being close to their target, achieving fifth after 16 games.

The 48-year-old joined Romanian side Astra and had the most success in his career, winning the Romanian Cup and the Romanian Super Cup. The club also finished second in the league to qualify for the Europa League for the first time in their history, one of the most memorable moments for the club.

Isaila has also worked as an assistant coach for the Romanian under 21’s and Saudi’s Al Hazm as head coach but didn’t have much success with either sides.

A club that was founded 40 years ago by owners Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan are now on the verge of winning their first-ever league title.
