Rock bottom Northampton host promotion hopefuls Plymouth

After recent results not going their way, the Cobblers now sit 24th in Sky Bet League One with 26 points. Even though the gap is only two points, Northampton Town are winless in 2021 and have only picked up two points from a possible 15.

Despite pleasing performances under temporary boss Jon Brady, the form has not improved in recent weeks. Former manager Keith Curle was previously sacked two weeks ago and Brady was given the temporary role, having now been in charge for five games, with his sixth tomorrow night.

The 49-year-old has changed the playing style at Northampton and also ended their goal drought by putting three past MK Dons, but also conceding four in the same game. The ex-Brackley Town manager is likely to have the job until the end of the season despite the form as performances have been pleasing under him.

Last time out, the East Midlands side lost 2-1 to fellow strugglers Swindon and results elsewhere dropped them to 24th. Now, a tough set of fixtures is on the horizon, the challenge is on for Brady and his team.

The two teams faced earlier this season with Plymouth running out winners in a 2-1 win but with a new manager in the opposition dugout, the Cobblers will look for their first win in 2021.

Plymouth currently sit 10th in League One, only four points outside the playoffs. Ryan Lowe has been praised for his style of football and with top scorer Luke Jephcott ready and fit, he will look to add to his tally against a leaky Northampton defence.

Despite recent form, the ‘Shoe Army’ will be hoping their team can pull through and scrape a win, whereas the Pilgrims will look to do the double over them this season.
