England team news ahead of third Test against India

England face India in the third Test of the four-match series with the two sides level at 1-1 going into the day-night match which kicks off tomorrow.

With England being heavily beaten in the previous game and with the rotation policy which is in place for Joe Root’s men, there is set to be several changes once more.

Jonny Bairstow and Mark Wood are both back available for selection after being rested for the first two matches of the series, while Zak Crawley is expected to be back in with a shout of playing after recovering from injury to offer Root plenty more options to choose upon.

However, all rounder Moeen Ali won’t be there after it was decided that he would leave the tour to get back to his family after the second match, Dom Bess is likely to come back in after being dropped for the previous game.

James Anderson and Jofra Archer are both also vying for a place back in the side after missing out in the defeat last time out and are expected to come back in as England try and work out their best formula for the side.

Typically, for a day-night Test the seamers come into their own but Root has told Sky Sports that he expects spin to still play a key part.

 “The pink ball has got quite a hard seam. It seems to stay harder for longer.

“Not only will that aid the seamers but I think it will aid the spinners as well – it might give them a little bit more bounce and might turn quicker for longer. It’s about being very aware of that.

I am sure at some point the wicket will turn but the majority of Test wickets do at some point. It’s just when and whether it happens off the straight or out of the rough.

“It might be that this pitch deteriorates in a similar fashion to the first one of the series but it might not.”

Predicted line up – Burns, Sibley, Bairstow, Root (C), Stokes, Pope, Foakes (WK), Bess, Leach, Archer, Anderson.
