Mark Wood withdraws from IPL auction

England fast bowler Mark Wood has requested to withdraw from the IPL auction on Thursday to allow him to spend more time with his family.

The Durham man has re-joined England’s tour of India for the final two Test Matches as well as the limited over series which follow.

Due to the nature of the busy schedule this year, the 31-year-old could have been away until June if he had of been picked up at the auction.

There will be 16 players who will take part in the auction with a further eight already being retained from last year’s edition.

This will all allow Wood to be available for selection in England’s summer Test series against New Zealand at Lord’s and Edgbaston respectivley.
