Cheltenham Town look to carry on their unbeaten streak as they travel face manager-less Saddlers

The Robins face a short trip up the M5 as they look to go within touching distance of first place in League Two. Cheltenham face off to a Walsall side who’re in good form themselves.

Walsall come into Saturday’s affair after a 1-1 draw at home with Mansfield Town, despite taking the lead through debutant Max Melbourne, their visitors struck level shortly after via Ollie Clarke.

Melbourne turned home from Villa loanee, Tyreik Wright’s free-kick as he looped the ball towards the far post allowing for the on-rushing full-back to bag a debut goal.

Both teams have played 26 games and with Michael Duff’s men only four points behind league leaders, Cambridge United, the Robins will be looking to edge ever so closer to the top spot as they seek promotion into League One.

Duff’s side will look to go one step further than they did last year after they fell to defeat against Northampton Town in the League Two Play-Offs, the Cobblers overturned a two-goal deficit in the second-leg, forcing the Robins to another campaign in England’s fourth division.

Cheltenham’s Alfie May will look to reach ten league goals in this weekend’s clash at the Banks’s Stadium. The forward is the Robins’ top scorer so far this campaign and will look to cause the manager-less Saddlers some trouble.

The Saddlers will look to keep up their hard work so far this season and potentially mount a Play-Off push as they sit six points away from seventh place, a key helper for Walsall has been Elijah Adebayo, however, the forward swapped the West Midlands for Bedfordshire, moving to Championship side Luton Town.

Tyreik Wright will look to open his account for Walsall, whilst already assisting twice in two matches, the winger is yet to find the back of the net. The 19-year-old has been watched by SPFL side Celtic; the Scottish side are keen to add Villa’s starlet to their squad.

When looking at form, the Robin’s arrive into the clash unbeaten in nine league matches whilst also displaying a valiant effort against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, in which Duff’s side saw defeat despite taking the lead on the cusp of the hour mark.

Whereas Walsall have lost one in their last five league outings, in which they saw defeat at home to Carlisle United despite dominating possession.

Seb Mannell will be at the Banks’s Stadium as the Saddlers host the Robins for the rearranged tie between the sides, which looks to be a must win fixture for Cheltenham Town.
