Jonathan Woodgate set to take temporary charge of Bournemouth

Bournemouth coach Jonathan Woodgate has been placed in temporary charge of the side as the club go in search of a new manager after Jason Tindall was sacked following the defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

The 41-year-old only joined the Ex Cherries’ boss backroom staff earlier this week and is now set to lead the team against Championship strugglers Birmingham City this weekend.

Woodgate does have some managerial experience in the Championship, having led Middlesbrough in the second tier last season, as they avoided relegation by five points.

Tindall was sacked following a run of four consecutive defeats in the Championship, a run which has seen the club slip to 6th in the table, well below the owner’s expectations.
