Shakib Al Hasan stars on return to international cricket

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan took 4-8 against the West Indies as he made his international comeback in a six wicket win for his side.

It was the 33-year-olds first appearance for his country since October 2019 after being involved in corruption previously and played a starring role with the ball.

A much changed West Indies which included six debutants and were dismissed for just 122 with Kyle Mayers (40) top scoring before Captain Tamim Iqbal hit 44 to help his side chase down the modest target with over 16 overs remaining.

Shakib himself then went onto score 19 with the bat before being bowled by Akeal Hosein who was the visitors’ star with the ball, taking 3-26 from ten overs.

The second ODI between the two nations gets underway on Friday in Mirpur with the pair also set to meet in a two-Test match series next month.
