Speaking exclusively to Prost International’s Adrian Kita, pole-sitter Yuki Tsunoda, and second-place qualifier Nikita Mazepin had their say on qualifying and looked ahead to the Feature Race.
“I think that it is very important to end strongly especially by getting pole position in the final round of the season.
“With my position in the Championship, I just have to push. Really push in Free Practice and qualifying to get everything out of the car.
“We just have to work as hard as possible during the final races and get as many points as possible.”
“I am very very excited. Where I am from, sometimes I come across as struggling to smile and show it to people because I try to keep collected and professional in my workplace which racing is in general.
“For me, it’s a dream come true. For something to happen that I’ve been dreaming for the past 15 years and especially how I missed on it last year it is huge for me.
“I believe the way it has been achieved in a calm approach I would not change it regardless of the situation around me.”
The two drivers interviewed lineup next to each other on the grid in one and two. The other Championship contenders, Callum Ilott and Mick Schumacher line up in ninth and 18th respectively, but Schumacher could be further down depending on whether he gets a penalty for the collision with Roy Nissany during qualifying which ended the session prematurely.
