Weakened Norwich welcome Coventry to Carrow Road

Championship leaders Norwich host Coventry looking to go ten matches unbeaten tomorrow afternoon. Unfortunately for the Canaries, they’ll have to achieve the feat without three of their key players.

Tim Krul, Teemu Pukki and Emi Buendia will all be absent for the Canaries. These absences, coupled with further absences to Jordan Hugill and Adam Idah, the fixture against Coventry represents a potential banana skin as Norwich look to make it ten leagues games unbeaten.

Coventry have injury headaches of their own after goalkeeper Marko Marosi’s injury against Cardiff, a strong challenge from Sean Morrison possibly ruling him out for months with a suspected fractured cheekbone.

Farke explained the difficulties facing his side on Saturday due to the absences of key players.

“If I start to cry that doesn’t help,” said Farke. “If this job was easy everyone would do it. You can’t feel too sorry for yourself. But it is tricky.

“We don’t have the best keeper in the league, no proven striker, the best creative player, no left back and on the wings a guy playing his first season in England and another who only made his full debut in midweek.

“It is fair to say the expectations cannot be too high this weekend.”

Coventry boss Mark Robins praised striker Tyler Walker, the 24-year-old netting the winner against Cardiff on Wednesday.

“He is a good player and there are still elements of his play he could tidy up like his build up play but in front of goal; he is an outstanding finisher so he will only improve.

“He has been good, and his work rate is outstanding and he put in a lot of work there, his explosive movements were good, his control and finishing.

“That goal was outstanding and the second chance he had was one he thought he was going to score because he scores them all the time.

“He will improve get better, fitter and stronger and he will get more experience. It was a good performance from him but also it was a really good team performance.”

Momentum is a vital component in the battle to survive for Coventry. Currently sitting just above the relegation zone before the fixture, a positive result at Carrow Road would serve the Sky Blues well as the busy festive period approaches.
