Leipzig look to cement their place in Champions League as they host Hoffenheim

RB Leipzig will look to move a step closer to securing their place in next season’s Champions League, when they welcome 7th placed Hoffenheim tomorrow evening.

A win for the hosts would see them move six points clear of Bayer Leverkusen who currently occupy fifth position, just out of the Champions League spots.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side have been inconsistent following the resumption of the Bundesliga, drawing three of their five matches, including last weekend’s 1-1 draw with bottom of the table Paderborn.
The visitors have lost just one of their five matches since returning to action, and are right in the mix for Europa League qualification, standing just two points behind Wolfsburg.
However they did suffer a setback last weekend, drawing 2-2 away at third from bottom Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Team News
The home side will be without defender Dayot Upamechano who was sent off last time out, while Marcel Sabitzer, Fabrice Hartmann and Yussuf Poulsen remain out injured.
Timo Werner, who has been heavily linked with a move to West London, will play a key role for third-placed Leipzig – who will look to move within one point of Borussia Dortmund.
As for the visitors, they will be without Benjamin Hubner after he was also sent off last weekend, while Jacob Bruun Larsen, Ishak Belfodil, Sargis Adamyan and Kostas Stafylidis  all remain unavailable.
Head- to- head
Leipzig have had more success between the two in the eight meetings, winning four times including a 3-1 win earlier this season thanks to a brace from Werner.
Hoffenheim have failed to beat Leipzig in the past four meetings when they claimed an impressive 5-2 away win which included a goal from Serge Gnabry.
