Dortmund out for revenge when they travel to Paderborn

Dortmund will look to avenge their 1-0 loss against Bayern Munich in Der Klassiker when they take on bottom of the table Paderborn on Sunday.

Paderborn did well last time out in their fixture against Augsburg, managing to 0-0 draw. w

For the Yellow and Blacks, they were perhaps unfortunate to record a loss against Bayern Munich with Joshua Kimmich’s chip over goalkeeper Roman Burki the only difference in the game.

Team News

Paderborn will be without the services of Albanian midfielder Klaus Gjasula through suspension, while Luca Kilian will again miss out with a thigh problem.

Streli Mamba has recently overcome a knee problem and should start, though, while Christopher Antwi-Adjei has also shaken off a thigh complaint over the last couple of weeks.

As for Dortmund, Erling Braut Haaland is expected to miss out with the knee problem that he picked up against Bayern, meaning that a reshuffle in the final third could be required.

Dortmund do still have injury problems, however, with Dan-Axel Zagadou, Nico Schulz and Marco Reus all on the sidelines ahead of the contest at the Benteler-Arena.

SC Paderborn manager Steffen Baumgart spoke about Borussia Dortmund and the quality they have to look out for:

“We meet an opponent whose quality we do not have to talk about. BVB is one of the best teams in Germany.”

“We stay with ourselves and do not look at the table, but have an eye on the performance.” said the coach.

Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre was disappointed with his side against Bayern Munich and that reflected in his press conference:

“Six games that will be very difficult”

“We want to keep going as we have been in the second half of the season, as we did after the Corona restart, as we did against Schalke, Wolfsburg and even against Bayern. Now we have to focus on the next game.”
