Coaches leaving teams in lurch, title hopefuls stumbling, and big blowouts. That and more in the 23rd matchday of the Bundesliga.

FC Koln hired Markus Gisdol to hopefully survive relegation this season and after a 5-0 win over fellow strugglers Hertha Berlin things look vastly different for each side.

FC Koln will think that level on points with Hertha is a great accomplishment as they are still looking on the up. Hertha was about as helpless as could be found. The change in management after signing so many players for Jurgen Klinsmann, has shaken everyone and if honest, this could mean an absolute sort of drop that will mean a relegation scrap from here on.

Hoffenheim has been up and down and away to Gladbach you would think this would be hard to get points, not so in a 1-1 draw that might mean the Foals are out of the title race.

Monchengladbach might not be in the DFB Pokal or the Europa League anymore, but everyone around and above them is still in Europe and yet this 1-1 draw could mean the end to all but the race for the Champions League. We were at this stage last season but now we can seriously consider that perhaps thye don’t compete for the league but decide the league.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga

Bayern Munich left it as late as you like vs Paderborn. A 3-2 victory means all three points, but this showed that Munich can be had and against a more dangerous opponent this could have been worse.

Borussia Dortmund was ruthless in their 2-0 win over Werder Bremen, what is scary is the possibility of what could be lost if the Green-Whites are relegated.

Fortuna Dusseldorf found two goals away to Freiburg to lend wings to their fight to stay in the top flight.

Schalke was thinking they had a chance as they hosted Leipzig but RB was way more than they could handle as they lost 5-0.

Leverkusen didn’t look their best as they beat Augsburg but their win keeps them in the Champions League race.

Wolfsburg kept up the weekend pressure against Mainz as the Wolves moved up to seventh in the table and look for UEFA qualification for a second year running.

In a partially empty stadium due to fan protest about playing on Monday, Eintracht Frankfurt found themselves not ready to play Union Berlin as the Eagles fell 2-1.
