Five star Tottenham thrash Burnley

Five goals from Tottenham, including a superb run and finish from Heung-Min Son, completed a rout of Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This game will be forgotten quickly in Lancashire but remembered in North London and South Korea for a long time due to a wondrous goal by Spurs midfielder Son, the third of five in a comfortable home win.

The opener arrived just four minutes into the affair. Afforded time and space in Burnley’s box, Harry Kane rifled a right footed effort past Nick Pope to give Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham the perfect start.

One became two on nine minutes. A fast break from Son resulted in a Pope save but failure to clear the ball culminated in Lucas Moura poking the ball home at the far post.

Moussa Sissoko hit the post five minutes later and Dele Alli had a glorious chance for three as the floodgates threatened to burst in North London.

The deficit was almost halved when Robbie Brady’s header looped over a despairing Paulo Gazzaniga but the ball failed to cross the line when bouncing down from the crossbar.

Then for a moment of absolute brilliance.

Receiving the ball on the edge of his own box, Son looked for options to start a break. Not seeing any of note, the South Korean decided to do it all himself. Leaving three maybe four Burnley players in his shadow before jinking in between two more, Son traveled into Pope’s area before finishing smartly to send the home fans into jubilation and the press box into applause.

It remained three at the break but the fourth, and Kane’ second, duly arrived in the 54th minute. Driving into the box and making a yard for himself, Tottenham’s marksman fired high in the top left corner to extend the lead.

The fifth came on 74 minutes minutes through Moussa Sissoko.

A typically powerful run from the Frenchman ended in a one-two with Kane before a toe poked finish past Pope completed the move. That score meant a goal in consecutive home matches for the midfielder, an astonishing achievement considering his last home goal before this run was against West Ham way back in October 2017.

There was time for a Premier League debut as 17-year-old Troy Parrott entered the game, with all in N17 excited to see what the future holds for the Irishman.

Spurs climb up to fifth with the win and Burnley fall to 13th but the day will be remembered for one act of utter brilliance from Son.
