Mauricio Pochettino sacked by Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino has tonight been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur after over five years in charge.

The decision has shocked many in the footballing world with the sacking arriving just six months after Spurs lost the Champions League final in Madrid.

Tottenham currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League after a disappointing start to the campaign.

Speaking a statement, Levy noted:

“We were extremely reluctant to make this change and it is not a decision the board has taken lightly, nor in haste.

“Regrettably domestic results at the end of last season and beginning of this season have been extremely disappointing.”

Many names have already been mentioned to replace the Argentine, with Jose Mourinho currently the favourite for the role.

Pochettino took charge of 293 games whilst in charge of the North London club and delivered four-consecutive top-four finishes.

The club have yet to announce who will take temporary charge while they search for Pochettino’s successor.
