Bayern lose at home during Oktoberfest, Freiburg show their fight, a new team takes top spot in the Bundesliga on matchday Seven.

Bayern should have had a world of confidence after a 7-2 win over Spurs in the Champions League. Apparently, they forgot that Hoffenheim was in town for Oktoberfest and spoiled the festivities 2-1 for the visitors in Munich.

Remember the name Sargis Adamyan. Two seasons ago he was a recently capped Armenian national team member who was having a good season in the fourth division of Germany when a second division team gave him a shot. Now, he scores a brace versus Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena. He can now say he has hit the peak of his career.

Borussia Monchengladbach is a historical club with aspirations above recent results, but a 5-1 win over Augsburg to put them top will bring back that old vibe.

Since Alassane Plea’s transfer last summer, he has been a major goal scoring threat. With Breel Embolo in the summer, that has merely added to the roster. Goals from each and a pair from Patrick Hermann and Denis Zakaria left no doubt that Marco Rose is finding his feet with the Foals.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund faltered against Freiburg as victory was within their grasp, the 2-2 draw keeps Freiburg in the European places and BVB in their wake.

Werder Bremen will be the happier after their 2-2 result in Frankfurt, Eintracht will wonder where they went wrong.

Wolfsburg came through vs Union Berlin 1-0 and with the win move to second in the Bundesliga.

Schalke knew they could go top with a win and despite the numerical advantage they ended up with a late goal that meant a share with FC Koln 1-1.

Paderborn will feel this for a while, missing a PK could mean this stay is short in the Bundesliga, as Mainz came away with a 2-1 win.

Billed as a top clash but leaving much to be desired, Leverkusen and RB Leipzig played out to a 1-1 draw.

Hertha Berlin moved past Dusseldorf 3-1 in a match that will leave the losers wondering how to survive the drop.

Player of the week

Sargis Adamyan has had the biggest of weekends, and on the biggest stage, earned a 2-1 victory over Bayern with his brace.
