Slavia Prague travel to Milan to face Inter MIlan in opening fixture of the Champions League

Italian giants, Inter Milan face Slavia Prague in the opening fixture of the Group F in the Champions League.

The opener of the Champions League sees heavyweight Inter Milan take on Slavia Prague in what could be an interesting encounter between the two sides with the game

Team news

Both teams do not have any injuries to report on and can use a full strength squad.

Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte spoke about getting off to a good start in the Champions League and not underestimating their opponents.

“Our journey in the Champions League is beginning after three league matches. It’ll be important to get off on the right foot, but we need to show high concentration levels and respect to do so. This is because Slavia Prague are a tough side to face: they won their league ahead of big sides like Viktoria Plzen and are also doing well this season. They’re a physical side who play with intensity. They’ve scored 19 goals and only conceded two in the league so far. We’ll need to do well in terms of taking the battle to them and matching them when it comes to intensity. We need to work hard and give 110%.”

Slavia Prague coach Jindřich Trpišovský spoke at a press conference looking ahead to the Czech club’s Champions League opener against Inter.

“Inter are a mega club, with a great coach and great players. But what I saw was just a bit of the new style of play. Do we have a chance? If I didn’t think we had a chance, I wouldn’t even have to go and play. I think we’ll do well, and we’ll play on a level playing field with Inter. They invested a lot of money in the summer, but it’s only their fourth game of the season.”

Head-to-head

This is the first meeting between both sides and any team could win this game.

Expected line-ups

Inter Milan’s XI – Handanovic; Godin, De Vrij, Skriniar; Candreva, Barella, Brozovic, Politano, Asamoah; Sanchez, Lukaku, Martinez.

Slavia Prague’s XI- Kolar; Zeleny, Hovorka, Kudela, Holes; Husbauer, Sevcik, Traore; Felipe, Skoda, van Buren.
