Promoted sides attack, challengers lay their mark, and Europe is set for the Bundesliga and matchday three.

Union Berlin has many stories that makes it unique but of their first Bundesliga scalp they do not come as big as Borussia Dortmund. A 3-1 win where the unit outshone the talent collective was what led the day for Union’s first win.

For the team from the East, an early lead by way of Marius Bulter got the crowd really fired up. While Paco Alcacer got an equaliser it was far from enough. A second goal for Bulter sent the crowd over the edge and a third goal scored by Sebastian Andersson recorded a first win in the top flight and a huge upset to boot.

RB Leipzig has shown themselves to be up to the challenge of contesting for the title, a 3-1 win over Gladbach showed what they can do versus top talent.

Gladbach was not going lightly, but Timo Werner decided that one goal wasn’t enough. A hat-trick for the German international and Leipzig concluded an unblemished first three matches. With Bayern next, consider things turned up for next match.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga

Eintracht new signing Bas Dost was on the scoreline as the Eagles came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Dusseldorf.

Bayern Munich has been running teams out of the stadium and relegation threatened Mainz rolled over for a 6-1 loss.

FC Koln found their first victory on the season away to SC Freiburg, don’t rest on the Billy Goats.

Josh Sargent scored for Werder Bremen as they came away from an enthralling 3-2 win over Augsburg.

Wolfsburg got an equalizer vs Paderborn to give them a healthy seven points from nine start under new manager Oliver Glasner.

Bayer Leverkusen and Hoffenheim played out a 0-0 draw that suited nobody at this early season phase.

Player of the Week

Timo Werner with his hat-trick showed how much Leipzig covets the Germany striker.
