France Finish The European Qualifiers On a High Note

With the men’s international football season coming to an end after the excitement of the Nations league and the European qualifiers, France redeemed themselves on Tuesday evening.

They beat Andorra 4-0 after their shock defeat against Turkey to respond in style immediately.

On Saturday night Turkey took advantage of France’s week defence to score two goals before the second half. In the second-half, France failed to score as the World Champions failed to execute single shot on target during the entire match.

Turkey were quicker, more organized and their young defenders, Merih Demiral and Kaan Ayhan, denied France’s all-star front line of Antoine Griezman and Kylian Mbappe from scoring. This match proved Turkey may have a new golden generation ready to take on the biggest teams in the upcoming Euro and eventually in the 2020 world cup.

With Turkey topping Group H, which also has Iceland, Moldova and Andorra group and France being one point behind, they needed to finish the international season in a strong way.

Kylian Mbappe started things off by scoring as early as the 11th minute followed by Wissam Ben Yedder who scored his first goal for France.

Marseille’s Florian Thauvin and Kurt Zouma sealed the deal by scoring the fourth goal and his first international goal for France. This third win in four matches moves France back to the top of their group with Turkey losing against Iceland on Tuesday night.

France next face Albania in Euro 2020 qualifying on September 7, while Andorra visit Turkey on the same day.
