England face Scotland on June 9 in Nice in both sides’ opening Women’s World Cup matches.

Yesterday, we ran a slightly tongue in cheek piece about the beautiful city of Nice, called 10 things you (probably) didn’t know abut Nice, including the fact that it is twinned with Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital.

Now it’s time for FIFA to have their say.

This is the their view of Nissa La Bella as the locals call it.

“Situated on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, in a region of timeless beauty, Nice, with its beaches and mountainous backdrop, is a place of unique appeal and contrasts. Known as “Nice la Belle” (“Beautiful Nice”), it stands out for its diversity.

One of the world’s leading tourist destinations, Nice is also a business hub and boasts an international airport located less than 15km from the city centre, as well as a conference centre and a cutting-edge football stadium. There is plenty to see and do throughout the year.

The city has invested heavily in the development of women’s sports, and local outfit Olympique Gymnaste Club (OGC) Nice are one of the top female clubs in the region. The men’s team are among the leading names in the French top flight, Ligue 1, and are coached by Patrick Vieira, who won 107 caps for France.”

FIFA also provided the following photos for our use, so here is the gallery:
