Luka Jovic completes Real Madrid move from Eintracht Frankfurt

Real Madrid have sealed the signature of forward Luka Jovic on a six year deal, in a move reportedly worth £52.4 million pounds.

After arriving at Eintracht Franfurt on loan in 2017, Luka Jovic has developed into one of the most sought after strikers in Europe, scoring 27 goals in the 2018-2019 campaign.

The Serbian international was influential in the German outfit’s Europa League run to the semi-finals, grabbing 10 goals in just 14 matches.

In April of this year, Eintracht Frankfurt exercised a clause in Jović’s contract to make his loan move permanent until 30 June 2023.

However, two months later the Spanish giants swooped in to take the 21-year old to the Bernabéu, where he is expected to earn £8.7 million pounds a year.

Frankfurt’s Sporting Director Fredi Bobic said in a statement:

“Luka Jovic is a big loss for us. His explosiveness and scoring skills have spread throughout Europe and we’ve benefited not only from his goals over the past two years. But for us it was clear that there is a financial pain threshold.

For Eintracht Frankfurt this is a good and important transfer. We wish Luka only the best for his future. He has the best qualifications for a great career. And we are proud that we were able to support him along the way.”

The signing of Jovic is set to be one of many for Real Madrid this summer, as boss Zinedine Zidane aims to rejuvenate an ageing Los Blancos squad.

The acquisition of the striker is the third signing of the window for Madrid, following on from the transfers of Eder Militao and Rodrygo.
