Swansea winger Daniel James withdraws from Wales camp after father’s death

Welsh starlet Daniel James has withdrawn from his nation’s training camp following the sudden death of his father.

The 21-year-old had been named in the group due to train in Portugal, but is now understood to have not travelled.

James’ club, Swansea City, released a statement expressing their condolences on Thursday:

“Everyone at Swansea City has been saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Daniel James’ father.

“Everyone at the football club send their condolences and our thoughts are with Daniel and his family at this sad time.”

James has been twice capped for Wales, who will travel to Croatia and Hungary for back-to-back Euro 2020 qualifiers next month.

The winger, reportedly the subject of a £15 million bid from Manchester United, registered five goals and 10 assists in 38 appearances this season.
