Massimiliano Allegri to leave Juventus at the end of the season

The Italian champions have confirmed that head coach Massimiliano Allegri will step down as manager at the end of the campaign.

Although the hunt for the allusive Champions League winners medal has proved somewhat difficult, with the club not having won it for 23 years.

Speaking after their quarter final exit to Ajax in April, Allegri expected to be at the helm for next season and wanted to ‘stay for another 300 games’.

However, on Friday Juventus issued a brief statement, confirming the departure of the Italian:

“Massimiliano Allegri will not be on the Juventus bench for the 2019/2020 season.

The coach and the President, Andrea Agnelli, will meet the media together at tomorrow’s press conference – Saturday 18 May, at 2pm (local time) in the press conference hall of Allianz Stadium.”

Allegri had been linked to a number of clubs in the Premier League with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal once reportedly admirers.

The departing boss will remain in the dugout for Juventus’ final two Serie A matches of the season, having already secured the title.
