Bayern and Dortmund continue to win, survivals confirmed, and European fights. That and more in the 29th matchday of the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich visited Fortuna Dusseldorf and the romping 4-1 victory for the reigning champions shows that the title will be hard to wrest away even considering the transition period the club is experiencing.

For a flying Dusseldorf, the edge of the match was taken off as on Friday, Nurnberg was unable to defeat Schalke thereby confirming that the club would avoid relegation after being nailed on favorites in pre-season. For Bayern, it was a continued march towards the Bundesliga title and possibly  a sign of the new days to come as Kingsley Coman was up front in leading the team to victory.

Borussia Dortmund stressed out their fans, racing into a first half lead 2-0 with a pair of goals from English youngster Jadon Sancho. From there, it was the adjustments from Mainz manager Sandro Schwarz that pushed BVB and Lucian Favre nearly to the breaking point. A goal from Robin Quaison was long in coming and showed how easily scared the Yellow and Black are.

FC Augsburg made the midweek change in manager as they brought in Martin Schmidt, and he orchestrated a 3-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Eintracht Frankfurt started well with an early goal and was pushing and attacking all throughout the first half. However, Augsburg found one, then two first half goals at the end to give them full momentum.

It looked that they hosts might overturn the score, but a quick red card to captain Gelson Fernandes as well as playing just days after their Europa League match punctured the Eagles’ enthusiasm as they were defeated for the first time in the spring half of the season. Augsburg can consider themselves saved from relegation with the next match with Stuttgart as the final hurdle to Bundesliga survival.

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Nurnberg were nearly successful in a earning a needed victory for relegation survival, but with their 1-1 draw with Schalke did neither any good.

Hoffenheim have quietly been zooming towards the top end of the table and after a 2-0 win over Hertha Berlin. They are five points away from the Champions league, but there’s a slim chance at a return to the big competition.

Hannover have been a lame duck for a while despite ousting their wannabe oligarch Martin Kind from power, but only 14 points have been earned all season meaning only a miracle can save them after losing 1-0 to Borussia Monchengladbach.

Werder Bremen have the record of scoring in every match and undefeated since the new year. Winning 2-1 over SC Freiburg is lending hope they can get a result next week away to Bayern.

Bayer Leverkusen have been up and down all spring, but for Stuttgart it was a missed opportunity at home to get a needed win as they find themselves six points adrift in 16th place.

RB Leipzig bested Wolfsburg to show they are the third best in Germany, a real sign in the 2-0 win was the obvious class above that the squad is and will be in the coming years.

Bundesliga Player of the Week

Kingsley Coman- for his first half brace and looking dangerous throughout the match, he will be one of the pillars of the team going forward
