Kane could miss the rest of the season with ankle injury

Tottenham forward Harry Kane could miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury according to his manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Kane limped off after 55 minutes of Spurs’ Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester City when he collided with City left-back Fabian Delph.

The England captain immediately hopped off and was shaking his head and had to be helped down the tunnel to go for treatment.

Pochettino fears that his star striker could be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

“We are going to miss him – maybe for the rest of the season. We hope it is not a big issue but there is not too much time to recover. He twisted his ankle so we will see how it reacts in a few hours.”

Kane, 25, will go for a MRI on Wednesday to assess the damage to his right ankle.

He was sidelined for the best part of two month in January when he injured the same ankle in Spurs’ 1-0 Premier League defeat to Manchester United. He also missed four weeks of last season with a similar problem.

“We need to check but it looks like it is the same ankle and similar injury, Pochettino said. “It is very sad and very disappointing.”

Tottenham face Huddersfield Town in the Premier League at the weekend before travelling to Manchester for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against City.
