Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton has admitted he thought about leaving Burnley in January.
The 32-year-old has found playing time limited at club level, making just eight appearances in the last two Premier League seasons.
Heaton suffered a dislocated shoulder in September of the 2017-18 season and then returned to be behind both Nick Pope and Joe Hart in the pecking order.
The former Manchester United academy player spoke to Sky Sports News explaining his frustrations at being left out of Sean Dyche’s team.
“It was difficult day-to-day,” Said Heaton.
“You’re dealing with the frustration that you want to play, you feel like you should be playing, and that”s certainly how I and I pretty much know that’s how the boys felt.”
Recently the former Cardiff City shot-stopper has returned to the starting 11, featuring in Burnley’s last four games in the Premier League.
However, before he was restored as the Lancashire team’s number one he did consider his future may lie elsewhere.
“Coming into the January window before I was in the team it was certainly uncertain for me whether it would be here or elsewhere if I’m honest, just because of that drive to play, that’s what gets me out of bed in the morning.”
Heaton is in line to start again on Tuesday when Burnley clash with his former club Manchester United.
