Coleman makes a U-turn on his controversial comments blasting Jon Moss (C) Sky Sports
Late last night John Coleman manager of Accrington Stanley issued a statement on the clubs website apologising to referee Jonathan Moss after he claimed “he’s potentially cost the club £250,000.”
This comment came in a rant from the 56-year-old as his side lost 1-0 to Derby County crashing out the FA Cup following a red card to midfielder Daniel Barlaser.
The Accrington boss announced in a statement on the clubs website:
“I have watched the match back and I feel I need to say something.
“It wasn’t the fault of Jon Moss that we lost the game, I shouldn’t be blaming him for it and I want to apologise for some of my comments after the match.”
Continuing on the Englishman said:
“In hindsight though, there was a lot more to the game and his performance wasn’t the reason we lost, there was a lot more to it.
“I was still frustrated after decisions went against us at Charlton last week – with our red card rescinded – and I think that was a factor in why I was so upset yesterday.”
Coleman’s League One side were on their best-ever run in the FA Cup before his side lost on Saturday. The manager’s apology could help resolve any of the issues that could have been present had the FA got involved.
