Gareth Bale under fire from former Real Madrid forward after yet another injury setback

Real Madrid and Wales winger Gareth Bale has suffered yet another injury, this time a suspected calf problem.

Bale sustained the injury during the first half of the 2-2 draw with Villarreal, failing to emerge from the tunnel in the second half, after a challenge from Javi Fuego.

This latest setback has meant that the winger has been forced off 11 times in La Liga this season, 15 in all competitions.

This has caused Bale to suffer some criticism yet again, this time from former Real Madrid forward Predrag Mijatovic. The Montenegro national claims Bale is not the player, the leader, Real need to fill the void of Crisitano Ronaldo.

“I like him, but he is nowhere near being a leader at a team like Real Madrid after Cristiano’s exit. It is worrying that he injures himself so often.”

The 29 year old has missed 71 Real Madrid games due to injury since his move to Spain, but has still managed 98 goals and 63 assists in 212 games.

His contract is not set to expire until the summer of 2022 and the former Tottenham star has given reminders of why the Spanish giants paid a reported fee of £85 million in 2013.
