Ramsey closes in on Juventus switch

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey looks set to join Italian giants Juventus with a pre-contract agreement in place for the deal to be completed in the summer.

The Italians have been monitoring his situation after the Welsh international failed to agree a new deal with his current employers. The agreement will see Ramsey join the Old Lady for free in July after spending ten years at the club since a move from Cardiff City in 2008.

Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici confirmed to Sky Italy their interest.

“He is a player whose contract is going to end and we always pay great attention to the situations offered by the transfer market because it is our duty, so we also pay attention to Ramsey.”

The 28-year-old has made over 350 appearances for the Gunners and has scored 60 goals for the north London club. He would follow Emre Can, Sami Khedira, Andrea Pirlo and Dani Alves as high-profile players who the Old Lady have been able to sign for free upon the expiry of their contract.

The move would of course see the Welshman line up next to players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala whilst almost certainly returning to Champions League action with Juve.

Juventus are seven straight Serie A champions and have won 34 Italian titles and 13 Coppa Italia cups in their illustrious history.

There has been no medical scheduled as yet but it is understood that Ramsey sees Juventus as his preferred destination.

Ramsey’s attention will now have to turn to Arsenal’s third round FA Cup tie against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.
