Galatasaray 2 : 3 FC Porto
Schalke 04 and FC Porto qualified comfortably from Group D after Matchday Six completed a lopsided group.
Both had already ensured qualification before today’s games but the eliminated sides Galtasaray and Lokomotiv Moscow were striving to snatch third and be entered into the Europa League.
In Istanbul, Felipe headed Porto in front early and the game seemed beyond the home side when Mariano fouled Hernani inside the penalty area in the 42nd minute and Belarusian referee Aleksey Kulbakov awarded a penalty.
Moussa Marega scored to double Porto’s lead. On the stroke of half time however, Felipe fouled Garry Rodrigues inside the area to give Galatasaray a penalty. Sofiane Feghouli scored to bring the deficit back to 2-1.
Sérgio Oliveira scored Porto’s third just before the hour mark before
Eren Derdiyok reduced the score to 3-2 with Gala’s second of the night.
In the other match in Gelsenkirchen, Schalke beat Lokomotiv Moscow 1-0 with a stoppage time goal from Alessandro Schöpf.
Porto topped the group with 16 points followed by Schalke on 11. The Muscovites remain on three points, one behind with Galatasaray who ensured Europa League qualification with third place in the Group.
