Assistant Head Coach departs Essex Cricket Club

Dimitri Mascarenhas has left Essex Cricket Club following the conclusion of his contract with the County Championship side.

Mascarenhas, a former England & Hampshire all-rounder, joined the ranks at the Cloudfm ground in March 2018 but will not have his contract renewed for the forthcoming 2019 season.

Head Coach Anthony McGrath said:

“We are of course disappointed that Dimi won’t be in the Essex changing room in 2019.

“Dimi is a highly respected individual and sought-after coach with global experience and can bring a wealth of knowledge to any team.

“However, Dimi’s departure allows the Club and myself to re-evaluate the coaching set-up and our attention will now switch to appointing a new Assistant Head Coach who will complement our aims and objectives.”

Essex finished last season Specsavers County Championship Division One campaign dramatically, turning round their relegation form to eventually finish third behind Somerset and eventual Champions Surrey.
