USMNT 0-Brazil 2

When U.S. Soccer announced the 2018 ‘Kickoff Series’ for their Men’s National Team it was intended as a means of starting anew, with fresh faces and a fresh perspective. Yet only after one match it is apparent that the issues of the past still remain. Despite featuring many new faces and new names it was another poor showing and a poor result, this time losing 2-0 to Brazil on Friday.

Roberto Firmino scored in just the 11th minute finishing off a Douglas Costa pass with a tap in at the far post. Neymar made it 2-0 just before halftime, slotting home his penalty kick chance. Although the U.S. were close to Brazil in terms of shots on goal (2-4) they rarely threatened goalkeeper Alisson. Their bet chance came in the 72nd minute when Tim Weah hit a low chance that forced Brazil’s goalkeeper to make a diving stop.
