Chelsea to Face Monterrey in World Cup

Two sides who have been familiar faces in the Pacific Northwest are to clash in the semi finals of the World Club Cup.

Monterrey played in Seattle on October 11, 2011 in the CONCACAF Cup. They will now face Chelsea two times visitors to Seattle for glamour friendlies.

Monterrey lost on a penalty shoot out last year, eventually finishing fifth. It is Chelsea’s first appearance in the tournament.

The Mexican side progressed by beating Asian champions Ulsan Hyundai 3-1. Jesus Corona scored once and Cesar Delgado twice to give Monterrey an unassailable lead.

Chelsea warmed up with a convincing 1-3 win at Sunderland.
