Prost Amerika Special World Cup Comment

Germany beat England 4-1 in the last 16 of the World Cup. Goals from Miroslav Klose and Lucas Podolski in the first half and two from World Cup stand-out Thomas Mueller in the second underlined Germany’s superiority. Matthew Upson scored England’s consolation from a header.

Argentina beat Mexico with an outstanding display. The score was 3-0 at half time and Diego Maradona’s side seem to be a very good bet to reach the final on this form.

They will play Germany who beat England by 4-1 today in Bloemfontein in case you’d forgotten.

Mexico’s exit ends the CONCACAF challenge but this has been a very good World Cup for the North Americans with two of the three qualifiers making it past the group stages and the USA topping their group. No nations from Asia or Africa achieved this distinction and neither had a success rate of 66% of their sides making the next round.

For that matter neither did Europe.
