Prost Amerika Writer Wins USL Media Award

The Seattle Wolves Football Club are celebrating a national award from the United Soccer Leagues’ Annual General Meeting in Tampa, Florida. At the USL Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner, the league recognised various teams and individuals for their achievements in 2009. Best of all, they recognised the efforts of our newest recruit, Alex Caulfield, whose real job is to run the Media Relations Department of the the Seattle Wolves.

Alex came to us about six months ago and asked if he could contribute in his spare time. Since then, he has written quality articles on the history of Barcelona FC, and penned a regular weekly update on the English Premier League. He has also contributed quality feature articles for us about his passion for soccer, especially where he can recall his English heritage as reference points. It now seems that his efforts to promote the Seattle Wolves are just as appreciated, as his efforts here.

The Tukwila club capped their inaugural season in the USL Premier Development League, by Alex’s media department claiming the Media Department of the Year Award. Out of 68 possible teams from the United States and Canada, the Seattle Wolves earned the award for their communications and media relations efforts. Seattle was also the only team from the PDL Northwest Division to receive an accolade at the AGM.

In a press release, Alex added, “We are so thrilled to be acknowledged for our hard work throughout the year. This is truly the result of a collective effort, and the award belongs to the entire media department. It was so enjoyable directing hard working staff members like Jeremy Supinksi and Michael Johnston. Both of those individuals contributed to the cause, along with our entire broadcast team at Metro Video Producer.”

This achievement caps a highly successful year both on and off the pitch for the Wolves as they reached the PDL postseason and advanced to the Northwest Division Final. Moreover, standouts Ely Allen and Daniel Scott were both recognized for their work on the pitch by being named to the PDL National Team of the Year.

Caulfield added, “Seattle’s appetite for soccer is well documented, and the 35,000 supporters that show up at Qwest Field on Saturdays is proof of this. But the city’s love of the game extends beyond obvious means. We have been well supported at the PDL level, and our local media outlets have gone out of their way to accommodate us.”

Prost Amerika’s editor had little to add.

“We’ll never hear the end of this. Luckily Liverpool got papped out of the Champions League so that should keep him quiet for a while! Seriously, we’re absolutely delighted for Alex. His understanding both of the game, and the needs of the media are excellent. He’s yet another exciting off field soccer talent in this town, and his enthusiasm and ability just exemplifies how rich this soccer city is.”
