A Disappointing End to the Match
It was an embarrassing way for this match to end. Argentine players Thiago Almada, Leandro Paredes, Sergio Romero, and Nahuel Molina were all directly involved in the fracas that broke out after the final whistle.
This was simply not right. Argentina’s players showed a clear lack of sportsmanship, and their conduct reflected poorly on the team — especially as manager Lionel Scaloni was left trying to pull his players out of the fight.
There was no class in the way Argentina’s players charged toward their opponents. It was simply not a good look.
Learn how to lose graciously, Argentina. A handshake would have been the right response — not a confrontation with Spanish players like Gavi and Eric García. That was far from classy.
