Cody Baker is a 22-year-old, 5’10, 155lb defender from Issaquah, Washington.

At the club level, Baker has made 116 career appearances, logging 6,752 minutes across competitions in the United States.

A product of the Seattle Sounders Academy, where he developed from 2018 to 2021, Baker began his professional career with Sounders affiliate Tacoma Defiance in MLS NEXT Pro. He signed a four-year Homegrown Player contract with Seattle Sounders’ first team in 2023 and remained with the club through 2026.

Baker spent part of the 2025 season on loan with Sacramento Republic FC before joining New England on loan in 2026.

In total club career numbers, the defender has contributed 2 career goals, 5 assists, along with 13 yellow cards & 1 red card.

At the international level, Baker is eligible to represent the United States.

Early Saturday morning, Niko Moreno of Sounder at Heart reported that the New England Revolution had acquired defender Cody Baker from Seattle Sounders FC via trade.

However, sources have indicated that the transaction is structured as a loan rather than a permanent transfer.

In exchange, New England will send Seattle an MLS SuperDraft selection and conditional General Allocation Money (GAM), with the amount tied to Baker’s playing time.

Sources have also indicated that the agreement could include an option for the Revolution to acquire Baker permanently.

Baker joins a New England defensive group that includes Mamadou Fofana, Brayan Ceballos, Ethan Kohler, Tanner Beason, Keegan Hughes, Andrew Farrell, Will Sands, Peyton Miller, Ilay Feingold and Damario McIntosh.
