Uruguay’s progress in Group H has gotten more complicated following a surprise 2-2 draw against Cape Verde Islands.
Kevin Lenini opened the scoring in the 20th minute to put the Blue Sharks ahead. Uruguay went ahead 2-1 after goals from Maximilano Araujo in the 44th minute and later with Agustin Canobbio in the 45+6 minute , but defensive error allowed Helio Varela to equalize in the 61st minute to leave the score at a draw and forcing Uruguay to look for a result in their next match against Spain on Friday (5pm PT, Fox/Telemundo)
Can Uruguay deliver an upset at the expense of La Furia? A Uruguay win will guarantee passage to the Round of 32, while a draw will be enough if Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia end in a draw.
