Soccer on the Sound: Defiance defeat Dynamo 2

Tacoma Defiance 2-1 Houston Dynamo 2

TUKWILA, WA–While the World Cup goes on, there is still some domestic soccer in the lower leagues going on as well. One such league is MLS NEXT Pro where on Wednesday, Tacoma Defiance defeated Western Conference leading Houston Dynamo 2, 2-1, at StarFire Sports Complex.

Vinicius Silva put the visitors ahead on 23 minutes after a rocket shot from 25 yards out. However, the Defiance would respond with two goals in the first four minutes of the second half. Mark Bronnik headed in a cross from Charlie Gaffney to level the score in the 47th minute. Two minutes later, Edson Carli scored off a free kick from just behind the arc to put Tacoma ahead.

Dynamo 2 remain top of the West, though level on points with Austin FC 2. Tacoma move up to 11th in the West on 17 points. The Defiance host Real Monarchs SC on Sunday at 7pm PT on MLSNEXTpro.com.
