FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution (1-0-3, 3 pts.) were defeated 3-1 versus St. Louis City SC (1-1-3, 4 pts) on Saturday night.
The match kicked off at 8:30 p.m. ET at Energizer Park to a crowd of 22,000.

The match kicked off with New England starting from the center circle as they swiftly advanced the ball into St. Louis’ defensive third.
St. Louis had the first chance of the match in the 4th minute when a delivery into the area by winger Marcel Hartel was deflected by defender Mamadou Fofana towards his own net but thankfully the ball exited the field for a corner kick.
Ilay Feingold had a massive missed opportunity in the 12th minute when a square-pass from midfielder Carles Gil inside the box was missed after Feingold used the wrong foot and missed the ball completely.
Entering the 13th minute, New England took the lead.
Winger Luca Langoni was looking to find forward Dor Turgeman inside the penalty area however, the ball inside the box was left by Turgeman and fell perfectly for defender Ilay Feingold for a right-footed wide open finish to make it 1-0 to New England.
Dor Turgeman had a chance of his own in the 18th minute when he took on two St. Louis City defenders and elected for a right-footed shot that snuck just wide of the left post.
Defender Rafael Santos & forward Célio Pompeu both had chances for St. Louis in the 22nd minute when Santos’ initial shot was saved by goalkeeper Matt Turner & the rebound that fell for Pompeu was sent high over the bar.
Entering the 29th minute, St. Louis City SC leveled the scoreline.
Following a giveaway in midfield by midfielder Brooklyn Raines, the ball was won by midfielder Daniel Edelman who found forward Simon Becher inside the area, cut around two defenders, and buried it past goalkeeper Matt Turner to make it 1-1.
In the 37th minute, St. Louis City defender Rafael Santos was issued a yellow card for a foul on midfielder Carles Gil.
St. Louis City’s next chance came in the 41st minute when a cut-back cross was saved and claimed by goalkeeper Matt Turner.
Entering the 45+2 minute, St. Louis City SC took the lead.
Following a corner kick delivery by defender Rafael Santos, the ball found the foot of forward Chris Durkin wide open in the box for the finish to make it 2-1 to St. Louis.
After the initial 45+4 minutes, the match entered halftime with St. Louis City ahead 2-1.

The second half began with St. Louis City SC electing to launch the ball quickly into New England’s defensive third.
In the 51st minute, Revolution defender Brayan Ceballos was issued yellow card for dissent.
Carles Gil had the first chance for the Revolution in the 54th minute when his left-footed attempt was saved in the center of the goal by goalkeeper Roman Bürki.
In the 59th minute, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his first two changes of the match by replacing Dor Turgeman & Luca Langoni with Griffin Yow & Leo Campana.
In the 65th minute, Revolution defender Mamadou Fofana was issued a yellow card for a foul on midfielder Conrad Wallem. Additionally, Revolution assistant coach Sean Hughes was issued a yellow card after a confrontation between forward Simon Becher & goalkeeper Matt Turner.

In the 72nd minute, both teams made changes. Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović made his third and fourth changes of the match by replacing Brooklyn Raines & Will Sands with Diego Fagundez & Peyton Miller. St. Louis City head coach Yoann Damet made his first change by replacing Celio Pompeu with Sergio Cordova.
St. Louis City had the next chance in the 74th minute when a corner kick delivery was claimed by goalkeeper Matt Turner.
Just two minutes later, in the 76th minute, St. Louis City SC head coach Yoann Damet was issued a yellow card after complaining a foul call.
In the 79th minute, Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović was forced to make his fifth and final change after an injury to forward Leo Campana. He was replaced by Jackson Yueill.
Entering the 83rd minute, St. Louis City SC added to their lead.
Forward Marcel Hartel opted for a long-shot volley that caught goalkeeper Matt Turner out of position and went directly into the net to make it 3-1 to St. Louis City SC.
Marcel Hartel had yet another chance in the 87th minute when his right footed effort was met with a diving save by goalkeeper Matt Turner.
In the 90+7 minute, St. Louis City SC head coach Yoann Damet made his final change of the match by replacing Jaziel Orozco with Mbacke Fall.
In the 90+9 minute, St. Louis City SC goalkeeper Roman Bürki was issued a yellow card for time wasting.
After the 90+9 minutes, the match concluded with St. Louis City holding on for the 3-1 victory.
