Revolution fall 3-2 in 120-minute match versus Houston Dynamo FC

FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution (1-1-0, 4 pts.) fell 3-2 in a preseason match versus Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday morning.

The match kicked off at 11:30 a.m. ET at IMG Academy to a crowd of 300.

New England had the first moment of the match in the 3rd minute when a freekick from roughly 35-yards out went too long and out for a goal kick.

Houston had the next chance of the match when a headed effort by Erik Sviatchenko was cleared.

Entering the 10th minute, Houston took the lead.

Following a corner kick delivery into the area, the ball fell for Agustin Bouzat to take a left-footed volleyed strike that snuck past Matt Turner to make it 1-0 to Houston.

In the 25th minute, after a save by Jonathan Bond, he held onto the ball for too long, forcing the referee to issue a corner kick.

In the 30th minute, Houston Dynamo made one change by replacing Agustin Bouzat with Lawrence Ennali.

New England’s next chance came in the 44th minute when two efforts towards goal by Luca Langoni & Griffin Yow were met with two saves by goalkeeper Jonathan Bond.

Entering the 45th minute, New England leveled the scoreline.

Winger Luca Langoni sent a ball into the area that was headed into the net by forward Leo Campana to level the scoreline.

Entering the 53rd minute, New England took the lead.

After receiving a long ball over the top from midfielder Carles Gil, forward Griffin Yow cut inside and unleashed a curler into the top right corner to make it 2-1 to New England.

After the initial 60-minute period, the match entered “halftime” with New England ahead 2-1.

Prior to the start of the second half, both teams underwent lineup changes.

Entering the 64th minute, Houston leveled the scoreline.

Forward Nick Markanich stepped up and buried a penalty into the bottom left corner after being taken down in the area to level the scoreline at 2-2.

In the 78th minute, a New England Revolution player was issued a yellow card.

Houston had another chance to take the lead in the 86th minute when a corner taken by Hector Herrera found the head of Ondřej Lingr, however, his effort went just over the bar.

In the 90th minute, both teams underwent lineup changes.

Houston’s next chance came in the 112th minute when an effort into the area by Duane Holmes went begging.

Entering the 114th minute, Houston regained the lead.

Following a freekick delivery into the area, forward Nick Markanich rose above the rest for a header past JD Gunn to regain the lead for Houston.

In the 120th minute, New England had a last second corner kick that eventually led to nothing.

After 120 minutes, Houston Dynamo FC held on for the 3-2 victory.
