CHICAGO, IL–On Friday, Chicago Fire FC added to their midfield both defensively and in attack. First, the Fire signed Swedish international Anton Saltetros from AIK Stockholm. Saletros, 29, is a box-to-box midfielder who played nine seasons at AIK in two spells (2013-2019 and 2023-2025). In between time, he had spells Rostov (Russia), Sarpsborg (Norway), and Caen (France). He also has 19 caps with Sweden and scored his first international goal last June against Algeria.
“We’re excited to welcome Anton to the Chicago Fire. His experience across both international and league play will have an immediate impact on our roster as we continue to push forward,” said Chicago Fire FC Director of Football and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. “Anton brings a winning mentality and competitive edge – qualities that will elevate our team next season.”
The Fire also made the loan of FC Porto man Andre Franco permanent. Franco came on loan from FC Porto in June and impressed in his six appearances registering four assists with the Fire before injuring his ACL in the match against Inter Miami.
“We are thrilled to have André as part of the Chicago Fire on a permanent basis. His experience, character, and quality have already made a real impact on our team,” said Berhalter. “We look forward to supporting him throughout his recovery and seeing him return stronger than ever.”
Both Saletros and Franco are signed with the club through 2028.
