Marko Mitrović named next New England Revolution head coach

Foxborough, MA – The New England Revolution have named Marko Mitrović as the club’s tenth Head Coach in club history.

Marko Mitrović, 48, has over 15 years of coaching experience across Serbia, England, & the United States.

He began his career as an Assistant Coach for Serbian side FK Banat Zrenjanin (2011-12). He then served as an assistant for Serbian side FK Napredak Kruševac (2012-13). During the 2012 season, Mitrović became an Assistant for the Serbian National Team U18, U19, & U20 teams. During the summer of 2013, Mitrović served as Head Coach of Red Star Belgrade’s Youth Academy U15 & U16 teams. From December 2014-2015, he served as Head Coach of the Serbia U15 National Team. In 2016, he made his first venture over to the United States where he served as an Assistant Coach for Chicago Fire FC (2016-2019). Following his first tenure in the United States, Mitrović served as an Assistant for EFL League One side Reading F.C. Following his tenure in England, Mitrović began working for the United States Youth National Teams. He first began with the US U19 squads from 2022-23. In September of 2023, Mitrović was named head coach of the United States U23s for the 2024 Summer Olympics. After guiding the U23s to the quarterfinals, he was then named head coach of the US U20s ahead of the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup, which he most recently led to the quarterfinals.

In terms of coaching honors, Mitrović won the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup with Serbia.

Marko follows the footsteps of Frank Stapleton, Thomas Rongen, Walter Zenga, Steve Nicol, Fernando Clavijo, Jay Heaps, Brad Friedel, Bruce Arena, & Caleb Porter as official Head Coaches for the Revolution. (Mike Lapper, Tom Soehn, Richie Williams, Clint Peay, & Pablo Moreira have all held interim titles for the club.)

The New England Revolution are off for the remainder of the 2025 campaign. They will look to improve this offseason to right the ship ahead of the 2026 MLS season.
