San Diego FC 2-1 Portland Timbers
SAN DIEGO, CA--Not the way the Portland Timbers to start its playoff run in the first-ever postseason opener at Snapdragon Stadium i In the end, San Diego FC defeated the Timbers, 2-1, despite Kristoffer Veldeās heroics, scoring his first goal as a Portland Timber.
San Diego FC had a dandy of a game and got regrouped despite the visitors being organized in the field and looking very disciplined in the end.
Phil Neville sent his same lineup and starting eleven in Game One from midweek against Real Salt Lake
Give James Pantemis a cigar, but in the end succumbed to an organized offensive game that the hosts displayed all over him. Onni Valakari started the scoring and opened the score in the 23rd minute. Later, Anders Dreyer headed a pass to Bombino, and the score was 2-0.
Still, I give the Portland Timbers a lot of credit for their persistence, which ultimately paid off when Velde scored his first goal since arriving in the Rose City, giving the Timbers a sense of hope, but ultimately no cigar in the end.
Jimer Fory needs to keep a cool head and not be led into provocations. In the end, the man got two back-to-back yellow cards in a span of two minutes, not something to expect from a player of that caliber and professionalism.
Goals
Onni Valakari (SD) 23rd, Anders Dreyer (SD) 30th, Kristoffer Velde (POR) 36th
