Providence Park, Portland, Oregon

Portland Timbers Briefly

That own goal play rescued a point back in the Portland Timbers’ house of horrors, Allianz Field, after Nicolas Romero scored an own goal and the Rose City side shared the spoils on the road.

Still, nothing has been won, and manager Phil Neville is looking forward to moving into the winning column and securing his side three valuable points with a well-deserved win.

The arrival of these new reinforcements has really shaken the likes of the Rose City side, with Mateo Rojas, the Paraguayan, delivering time after time and making an all-around statement in the field.

With a team from the East Coast visiting Providence Park, we may feel that they are looking forward for a triumph over the Timbers and netting an important win on the road over the Rose City side.

Among those trying to make an impact on the team is Paraguayan Matias Rojas, who, at all costs, is looking to score. Despite not being able to do so, the man is looking somewhat impressive, along with Felipe Carvallo and newcomer Kristoffer Velde.

Somehow, I believe the team is making a lot of progress with these new players adapting rapidly to the lineup and Neville’s style of play with a lot of ambition and determination. Maybe one day these lads will score.

As manager, Phil Neville is experimenting with several formations. Using a 4-3-3. Neville needs to stop his experiments and become bolder in his formations, making them more dynamic and efficient.

New York Red Bulls Briefly

For manager Sandro Schwarz, this season isn’t one of his easier ones, but not as difficult as the Red Bulls are currently in ninth place and barely holding the last spot for the league playoffs.

Despite the team troubles, the man has a lot of support for his side, and this one success has his team in the fight for the last spot in the postseason.

The team has some weapons that manager Schwarz can use in its lethal attack and give the opposing defenses a big headache, and this is what they are looking for when they visit Providence Park on Saturday, the 13th.

Starting with Emil Forsberg, the Swede can be lethal in the Red Bulls attack, followed by Dylan Nealis being featured on the Matchday Team of the Week for this past week. Add Peter Stroud, Wikleman Carmona, and Daniel Edelman makes it one of the most dangerous formations.

As manager, Schwarz uses a 5-4-1 formation, the man knows his business with a lone forward up front, still, the man cannot be too careful if not dynamic in its attack using five defenders in its backfield
