Canadian Little League Update

VICTORIA, BC–Hosts Layritz LL of Victoria, BC are the pacesetters after Sunday at the Canadian Little League Championship in Victoria. Our own Gerrit te Hennepe has been taking snaps of the action (as his grandson is on the Little Mountain LL team from Vancouver). Vancouver are currently 4-1 in the round robin at the time of this posting.

It was the hosts who dealt Vancouver their first loss in the tournament on Thursday with a 4-3 decision, but the team from across the Strait of Georgia rebounded with a 7-1 win over the Toronto High Park LL on Friday and then a 16-1 win over Calgary Rocky Mountain.

Layritz followed up their Thursday win with a 5-3 win on Saturday against the Diamond Baseball LL of Mirabel, Quebec. Layritz are due to play Toronto later on Sunday night.

Canada is the latest international region to decide who will go to Williamsport at the end of the month. Below are the nine international teams whom the Canadian champion will be joining in Williamsport:

Asia-Pacific:  Tung-Yuan LL, Taipei, Chinese Taipei

Australia:  Brisbane North Region LL, Brisbane, Queensland

Caribbean:  Aruba Center LL, Santa Cruz, Aruba

Europe-Africa:  South Czech Republic LL, Brno, Czechia

Japan:  Joto LL, Tokyo, Japan

Latin America:  Cardenales LL, Barquisimeto, Venezuela

Mexico:  El Swing Perfecto LL, Chihuahua, Mexico

Panama:  Vacamonte LL, Arraijan, Panama

Puerto Rico:  Juan A. Bibiloni LL, Yabucoa, Puerto Rico
