FOXBOROUGH, MA– New England Revolution (6-7-11, 25 pts) were defeated 3-1 versus CF Montréal (4-6-15, 18 pts) on Friday night.

The match kicked off at 7:30 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium to a crowd of 15,000.

The match kicked off with C.F. Montréal starting from the center circle and quickly advancing the ball into New England’s defensive third.

Entering the 3rd minute, New England took the lead.

Following an interception by Matt Polster, he advanced the ball to Carles Gil who then played a through-ball to find Tomás Chancalay for the simple finish past Jonathan Sirois to make it 1-0 to New England.

New England’s next chance came in the 8th minute when a delivery into the area by Carles Gil was headed on by Leo Campana out for a corner kick.

Entering the 9th minute, C.F. Montréal leveled the scoreline.

Midfielder Bryce Duke drove down the right flank and centered the ball into the area to find Prince Owusu for the roof-top finish to make it 1-1.

C.F. Montréal’s next chance came in the 11th minute when a header by Dante Sealy was claimed by goalkeeper Aljaž Ivačič.

Less than two minutes later, Dante Sealy had yet another chance when his effort from the right flank was saved out by Aljaž Ivačič for a corner kick.

Prince Owusu had yet another chance to score in the 15th minute when his headed effort went just wide of the net.

Leo Campana had a chance just two minutes later when a poor back pass by Joel Waterman was intercepted by Campana. He then did a step-over, took a touch, and shot it toward the upper right corner of the net, however, it went into the side netting.

New England’s next chance came in the 26th minute when a free kick delivery into the area was headed by Leo Campana and missed the net wide of the net.

In the 29th minute, Revolution midfielder Luca Langoni was issued a yellow card for fouling C.F. Montréal midfielder Bryce Duke.

Tomás Chancalay had a chance in the 32nd minute when a cross into the area by Luca Langoni was headed just over the bar.

Entering the 36th minute, C.F. Montréal took the lead.

Alhassan Yusuf had a long-distant chance in the 41st minute, however, his effort was deflected and cleared.

Leo Campana had a headed effort in the 47th minute that was sent just over the crossbar.

After the initial 45+4 minutes, the match entered halftime with C.F. Montréal ahead 2-1.

The second half kicked off with New England starting from the center circle and quickly advancing the ball into C.F. Montréal’s defensive third.

Luca Langoni had the first chance of the second half when his effort from outside the box was saved by Jonathan Sirois.

New England had a crazy chance in the 52nd minute when a cross attempt by Tomás Chancalay was deflected by Dawid Bugaj went towards goal and was saved by Jonathan Sirois.

Luca Langoni had the next chance for New England when an effort in the 58th minute was deflected over the bar for a corner kick.

In the 60th minute, C.F. Montréal head coach Marco Donadel made his first change by replacing Bryce Duke with Luca Petrasso.

C.F. Montréal’s next chance came in the 65th minute when Dante Sealy slipped when taking a shot and his effort went high and wide over the net.

Midfielder Carles Gil had the best chance of the second half when his right-footed effort toward the top corner was met with a finger-tip save by Jonathan Sirois and off the crossbar.

In the 73rd minute, both Revolution midfielder Carles Gil & CF Montréal midfielder Joel Waterman were both issued yellow cards.

Just two minutes later, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter made his first change of the match by replacing Wyatt Omsberg with Tanner Beason.

In the 76th minute, C.F. Montréal head coach Marco Donadel made his second and third changes of the match by replacing Caden Clark & Dante Sealy with Olger Escobar & Hennadi Synchuk.

In the 80th minute, Revolution midfielder Matt Polster was issued a yellow card for fouling C.F. Montréal forward Prince Owusu.

New England’s next chance came in the 81st minute when a rushed shot by Tomás Chancalay went wide of the net.

Following the shot, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter made his second change of the match by replacing Ilay Feingold with Maxi Urruti.

Maxi Urruti had a massive chance in the 85th minute when an effort toward the goal was cleared off the line by Joel Waterman to keep it 2-1.

In the 88th minute, C.F. Montréal midfielder Olger Escobar was issued a yellow card.

Tomás Chancalay had yet another headed chance in the 89th minute that went just wide of the net.

Prince Owusu had a massive chance to add to C.F. Montréal’s lead when his effort entering the 90th minute struck the post and bounced out. It was then cleared by Matt Polster.

In the 90+1 minute, Revolution forward Tomás Chancalay was issued a yellow card.

In the 90+3 minute, Revolution forward Maxi Urruti was issued a yellow card for fouling Victor Loturi.

Entering the 90+5 minute, C.F. Montréal added to their lead.

Midfielder Olger Escobar roofed the ball from six-yards out to make it 3-1 to C.F. Montréal.

After the 90+5 minutes, the match concluded with C.F. Montréal holding on for the 3-1 victory over New England.

Full Time between New England & CF Montréal

With the result, New England remain in 11th place in the MLS Eastern Conference.

Caleb Porter and New England Revolution (6-7-11, 25 pts.) remain home to face off against Eastern Conference side D.C. United (4-7-13, 19 pts). The match is set to kickoff at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, August 9th at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
