Seawolves defeat Houston to move into playoffs position

Seattle Seawolves 14-9 Houston Sabercats

TUKWILA, WA–The Seattle Seawolves defeated the Houston Sabercats on Friday night, 14-9, to keep their playoff hopes alive. The win moves them up to the fourth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference–one point ahead of San Diego with two matches to play. The tight nature of the Western Conference, though, means that the Seawolves are just six points out of top spot currently being held by Houston with Utah and RFCLA in between.

Three penalty goals by AJ Alatimu had the Sabercats up 9-7. But in the 74th minute, Jesse Mackail scored the try to put the Seawolves ahead and Rod Iona hit the conversion to put the Seawolves ahead to stay.

The Seawolves next play on Sunday against top of the East New England Free Jacks in Quincy, MA. Kickoff for the match is at 11am PT on ESPN+.
